Save yourself and DO NOT book this place! I found myself in one of DC’s most dangerous neighborhoods with routine gunshots, fireworks, police sirens, crazy domestic stuff happening with the neighbors, the smell of pot, and so much more. The host explicitly advertised the place as having “free street parking.” I got 5 tickets during my time there and the host was unresponsive and unwilling to resolve this issue in my favor. His “solution” was to park behind the property-down a disgusting trash filled alley that smelled horrible and I found a dead rat in alleyway. (I have a picture of where he told me to park and I’d love to send it.) There was clearly no regard for the guests and I had trouble with mice, yes MICE! When I got there, mouse droppings were on the counter and a short time later they began eating my food and leaving more droppings! The dishwasher didn’t work when I got there and that took nearly a week to finally fix. So much more to say, but please don’t stay here.
There are several issues that arose within the first 24 hours of my stay. Upon check-in the host gave me the incorrect door and the team could not figure out which door I was actually supposed to use to access the property, this took nearly three hours by the time I finally got inside. If you value cleanliness I would strongly advise against staying here as the pictures are very misleading. There were also several missing amenities and maintenance issues. Additionally, when made aware of these issues, the host(s) were not very responsive or helpful and Airbnb Customer Support has to be contacted.
Great place overall. The surrounding neighbourhood is very peaceful and quiet. It is also a 3 minute walk to the metro station which is a huge benefit. Communication was also very responsive. It was a large space and everything worked as expected. There were only two negatives. First was an ever-present smell of cigarettes. I’m not sure if it was coming through the air vents from other tenants of the building or had seeped into the furniture from a previous tenant. The smell was ever present and made my clothes smell of cigarettes. Second was the bed, the frame has a few bent bars which meant it made noise when rolling around while sleeping. It was a small thing but did negatively affect my sleep quality.
